Record your first idea

Tap record, get a 3·2·1 count-in, then sing, hum or rap. No click track needed.

How to

  1. On Home, tap + Add, then Record.
  2. Allow microphone access the first time. Toplinevaults only listens while you record.
  3. Tap the red record button. After the 3·2·1 count-in, sing, hum or rap your idea.
  4. Tap Stop when you are done. Your first take becomes the loop that everything else plays over.

Good to know

  • Wear headphones when you add more layers. The loop then plays in your ears and doesn't bleed into the mic.
  • Freeform is the default: no click and no grid. Switch to Tempo if you want a metronome (see Tempo and BPM).
  • Add the Capture an idea widget to your Home Screen to start recording in one tap.

Trim your take into a loopDrag the edges of your first take, then tap Accept loop. That length becomes the loop.Tempo, BPM and keyRecord freely, or lock to a tempo with a metronome. Set the key so the song keeps it.Stack harmonies, ad-libs and doublesRecord new takes on top of your loop. Each one is counted in so it lands right on the beat.
